Turnbulls Lingerie of Carlisle will be closing its doors in mid February 2018 after more than 70 years in business. Run by sisters Alison and Sheila this family business was founded in 1947 by their parents after the Second World War and has been a part of the retail scene in Carlisle ever since.
Their website reports that 2017 was a difficult year “We have had a terrible year with water coming through the ceiling and we are a self-contained ground floor unit! We feel we simply have no choice, but to leave this unit, but will continue trading here as usual, with our final day of business being 17 February 2018. A well-earned break is on the cards for the wonderful staff who have gone above and beyond for their customers over the years.”
The owners went on to explain they would “possibly consider” reopening the business in another location but no details are yet available. Turnbulls has won awards for their high standards, quality of product and first class customer service, being nominated every year for Stars Best Shop Awards and winning the Excellence & Outstanding Achievement Award in 2014.
