Storm In a D Cup – Rigby & Peller founder publishes autobiography

From the early days selling garments in an open-fronted shop in Brixton to the Queen’s private apartment, where she attends Her Majesty as the royal corsetiere, June Kenton’s story is full of surprises. June is the petite powerhouse who transformed London’s renowned Rigby & Peller into an internationally-recognised luxury lingerie brand, and she has devoted her life to extolling the virtues of a properly-fitted bra and changing the lives of countless women along the way.

She initially learned her skills at the Berlie Corsetry School when she was in her teens, but revolutionised the fitting world when she threw away her tape measure in favour of her eye and own judgement. Nearly twenty years campaigning for freedom and justice saw her being ejected from the Wimbledon tennis championships, the Coliseum and dozens of other landmark venues. She then pushed herself to her physical limits trekking across the Sinai desert and, in a cruel twist of fate, tackled breast cancer head-on. Now in her eighties, June is still on the board of Rigby & Peller UK.
