Maiyo Crochet Swimwear

by Underlines

London-based crochet swimwear brand Maiyo releases a feminine and ultra-luxe SS17 collection. Created in 2016 taking inspiration from designer Roxanne Namaki’s Persian background, the brand name translates into ‘swimwear’ in Farsi.

Roxanne’s love for fashion and travel developed from a very young age leading her to explore the world, and after spending some time in Brazil her love for bikinis and swimwear grew. Her background in fashion marketing and design helped her to design various styles and patterns that could appeal to fellow swimwear lovers, whilst keeping focus on crochet products.

The Spring/Summer 2017 collection captures the essence of a bohemian and carefree spirit. Crafted using an ancient form of knitting technique – hand crochet – Maiyo’s silhouettes feature intricate lacery which adds depth to each swimsuit. The line features feminine and flattering simple silhouettes including one and two pieces accented with ruffled and scalloped crochet detailing.

Stlyes are available in a soft pastel and neutral colour palette including ethereal misty and cloud-like blue, a romantic dusty lavender, red hues and neutrals of black, beige and white for minimalists. “Maiyo is about making a woman feel their best whilst on a beach in their bikini. The effortless shapes and simple colours make it the perfect slip on bikini,” says Roxanne.
