James Parker awardThird-year BA (hons) Fashion with Business University of Brighton undergraduate, James Parker, has won the prestigious Project 20/20 Student Design Award.

The Student Design Awards aim to empower young designers to create their own visions of professional work clothing, and this year’s programme challenged students to conceptualize corporate wear, workwear and/or personal protective equipment for workers in the year 2020. Commenting on his award, James said: “My Project 20/20 experience has been a fantastic learning curve. I started putting my ideas together whilst in Amsterdam on my work placement working out my ideas straight after I got home from the studio. I had to overcome a lot of technical issues whilst pattern cutting the design and gained new understandings of working with tech fabrics.”

James’ winning design attracted a cash prize of £750 for himself (presented by sports personality and Olympic swimmer Sharon Davies) as well as internship opportunities with top professional clothing brands and a £500 award to the University of Brighton Fashion Design Course.
