Australian actress and model, Megan Gale, recently stated (Daily Mail Australia) that she will never work with the Seafolly brand again after the discontinuation of her Isola label in 2015 which the company has replaced with a range that bears ‘a striking resemblance’ to Megan’s brand, according to the model.
Megan’s association with Seafolly started in 2010 with Isola but she announced their decision to drop it by social media last year writing to her fans “After six successful, wonderful seasons together partnering with Seafolly we have decided to part ways.” Megan has retained full ownership of the Isola brand although she decided to rest it for a season.
However at the time of the shock announcement she also conceded that it was ‘unusual’ for a brand to make such a big change when a range had been doing so well. ‘It is unusual for there to be such a big change within a brand when it is having great success season on season’, she told The Australian Financial Review last year. Isola is sold 100 stores nationally, and had sales of Aus$4 million in the 2014/5 financial year.
L Capital Asia who purchased the Seafolly company in 2015 has launched a new sub brand – Milea – which is fronted by 29 year old Australian model, Elyse Taylor, and has been created with the same design and sales team as Isola.
