After all the hype around Barbie at Paris Fashion Week with big brands fueling the Barbie trend, Wildfox announces its Resort 14 ‘Dreamhouse’ collection in collaboration with Mattel. The 12 piece limited edition range includes t-shirts, jumpers, sunglasses and bathing suits in a life-sized version of Barbie’s wardrobe from the late eighties.
Creative Director Kimberley Gordon says: “As a girl who played with Barbie, the whole collection itself was inspired by my imagination come to life. I thought of what she and her friends would have really worn and saw them as eighties/nineties shabby chic. I was thrilled at the opportunity to create a collection with Barbie…visiting the Mattel office was really exciting.”
Eighties-inspired phrases, geometric graphics, allover hamburger prints and even sunscreen or cotton candy scented fabrics (which last 10-12 washes over a 4-6 month period) are featured in the capsule collection which also includes the Foxercise™ work out range, a variety of sports bras, tanks, crop tops, sweatshirts, hoodies, shorts and pants in spandex, cotton mesh, jersey and fleece terry fabrics. Resort swim styles in the collection are a Barbie branded 80’s one-piece and Barbie tankini top with bikini bottom.
