A dream work experience placement with clothing giants Gap in New York has been landed by a Fashion Design student from De Montfort University (DMU). Catriona Pringle has flown to New York to start an eight-week placement this week with global retail giant Gap, working in their men’s sweaters section. The 21-year-old, from High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire, was selected from more than 100 second year students at DMU for the all-expenses paid placement. “I still can’t believe it,” said Catriona. “To be working with Gap is a great opportunity, especially in New York! I am really excited to be working with this amazing company and am looking forward to experiencing everything that it and the city holds.”
DMU is the only university outside the USA that Gap offers internships to and this is the third consecutive year that a student from the School of Fashion and Textiles has been selected. Dr Julie King, Head of the School of Fashion and Textiles at DMU, said: “We are very excited to be working with Gap again and are pleased that Catriona has been offered this incredible opportunity. It’s great that the specialist skills and subjects that we offer at DMU are recognised by such a well-known global brand.”
