A new exhibition opens on 19 September (to 18 January 2015) at The Fashion & Textile Museum in London. This major retrospective includes 1920s Chanel, 1950s cocktail sweaters, 1960s crochet, 1970s Bill Gibb, 1980s Vivienne Westwood and of course in the 1990s Julien MacDonald. Look out for the knitted swim one-piece!

Over 150 knitwear pieces from the personal collection of Mark and Cleo Butterfield will be on show for the first time.

With the main exhibition there will be a capsule display ‘Visionary Knitwear’, bold knitting designs from the 21st Century, selected by Sandy Black, Professor of Fashion and Textile Design & Technology at the London College of Fashion. On ground floor there will be a special area for fashion photography of knitwear from the Norman Parkinson archive. Not to be missed.
