Clothes Show Live Creative Awards winners announced

Clothes Show Live, the UK’s largest fashion festival, has unveiled the winners of its hugely successful Creative Awards Programme for 2013. Supporting the future of fashion, Clothes Show Live’s Creative Awards support this country’s best up-and-coming creative talent across a variety of disciplines including fashion design, photography and accessories design.

cslThe winners were announced at an awards ceremony which took place on the Clothes Show Live event at NEC Birmingham on December 10th. The awards were judged by Clothes Show Live’s Educational Ambassador and Fashion Commentator Caryn Franklin, celebrity stylist Karl Willett and Managing Director of Haymarket Exhibitions Gavin Brown, who all had the difficult task of reviewing hundreds of entries from students at schools, sixth forms, colleges and universities from around the UK. The prestigious Young Designer of the Year welcomed fashion icon Zandra Rhodes alongside stylist Karl Willet to join Caryn and Gavin to present the award which closed the ceremony.

The full list of winners include:

  • Young Artist of the Year in association with Fable Label – Hannah Dawes, 13, from Wellington in Telford
  • Young Handbag Designer of the Year – Nadine Acquaah, 15, from Kingslangley in Hertfordshire
  • Young Fashion Photographer of the Year –Lenny Codd, 20, from Headingly in Leeds
  • Customise a OnePiece Award – Gerogina Ingledew, 17, from Escrick in York
  • Nica Design a Print Award – Lili Price from Farnborough
  • Young Journalist of the Year in association with Cosmopolitan – Jessamine McHugh from Islington in London
  • Young Designer of the Year – Joanne Street, 19, from Codsall in Wolverhampton
  • Best University/College Stand Award – Plymouth College of Art

Based on core learning criteria as set by leading examining bodies, the scheme awards bursaries and work experience placements to students helping them gain the recognition and experience necessary to kick start their chosen careers.

Talking about her win, the recipient of the Young Designer of the Year Accolade, Joanne Street commented: “I am so excited to have won this award, when they said my name I didn’t quite believe it. I am only 19 so winning this has given me a fantastic confidence boost.”
